Disable New Program
Alert On Start Menu

To disable newly installed programs from being highlighted in the new Windows XP Start Menu:

     1. Right click the Start button and choose Properties.

     2. Go to the Start Menu tab and choose Customize.

     3. Choose the Advanced tab
     4. Remove the check mark from the box labeled "Highlight newly installed programs"

     5. Choose OK.
     6. Choose Apply.
     7. Choose OK.
