Make CDs Run Automatically

There's a Registry value that prevents autorun on certain drive types (such as floppy disk drives and local hard drives). A number of people have reported autorun problems in Windows ME. The cause? Erroneous data in this Registry value disabled autorun for all drive types. To fix the problem:

     1. Launch Regedit by choosing Start / Run. In the Run dialog box type in - regedit then choose OK.

     2. Navigate to the key (expand the entries by clicking on the plus (+) sign next to each entry by
double left mouse clicking on it):

HKEY_ CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer.

     3. In the right-hand pane, double-click the value named NoDriveTypeAutoRun. It's data probably
         reads FF 00 00 00.

     4. Delete those four numbers and enter 95 00 00 00
     5. Choose OK.
     6. Close out Regedit.
     7. You may need to restart Windows ME, but the autorun feature for your CD-ROM drive will be
         enabled.
