The Send To Command
In Windows XP




To quickly move a file or folder within Windows XP, In Windows Explorer or My Computer, right mouse click a file, and then point to Send To. On the menu that appears, select the destination where you want to send the file. The file is sent to the destination that you select.

Destinations on the Send To menu can include any of the following:
          a. Disk drives (local or network)
          b. Fax printers
          c. Printers
          d. Windows-based programs
          e. Compressed (zipped) folders
          f. The desktop
          g. Mail recipients
          h. The My Documents folder
          i. Windows Folders

Add a Destination to the Send To Menu

By default, the Send To menu in Windows XP lists the following commands (destinations):
          a. Compressed (zipped) Folder
          b. Desktop (create shortcut)
          c. Mail Recipient
          d. My Documents

          e. 3 1/2 Floppy (A:)
          f. CD Drive

























To add a destination to the Send To menu, you must add a shortcut to the Send To folder. To do this:

     1. Choose Start / Run .
     2. In the Open box, type sendto and then choose OK.











     3. Add a destination by doing the following:
          a. On the File menu choose New, and then Shortcut .
























          b. Choose Browse and follow the instructions in the Create Shortcut Wizard.




















A new shortcut is created in the Send To folder, and it is displayed on the Send To menu.

Remove a Destination from the Send To Menu

To remove a destination from the Send To menu, do the following:
     1. Choose Start / Run .
     2. In the Open box, type sendto and then choose OK .
     3. Right mouse click the shortcut that you want to remove, and then choose Delete.
     4. The shortcut is removed.
